For yet undetermined reasons, the recording from last week's class failed, and Zoom did not send it to me. It should have recorded because all the parameters were checked, so I'm looking into the whys and hows of what happened. As an alternative, I've posted the first class video of the spring semester which has essentially the same content. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully I will have resolved this issue by the August 31 class.

Illustrator CC Revealed Chapter 2, 2-4 through 2-3. Berry Symposium  Begun in class, completed outside of class.

Project 1 Tee Shirt- Due September 14

Design a novelty tee shirt. The shirt must have a graphic integrated with text. Draw at least ten thumbnails to generate ideas. Scan one of the ideas. Create the design in illustrator. Do not use placed images or live tracing. Use one of the tee shirt templates to envision how the shirt will look when it is printed. Submit the design and the design on the shirt template as separate AI files.

Submit the design to a vendor. Here are two local vendors:

http://tucsonprintedshirts.com/ and  http://www.bigfrog.com/tucson/ and have the tee shirt printed. There are also many online vendors. You can also print to transfer film and iron-on to fabric.

Specifications: Maximum size 12”x12” Full Color CMYK

IMPORTANT! Show your ideas and thumbnails to the instructor for approval before proceeding.

Naming Conventions

The completed modules, projects and exams are to be submitted as digital files at the

end of a project cycle. When requested by the instructor, place the project file and all of

the completed module files in a single folder labeled 122_P1(or whatever project

number it is- P2, P3 etc.) (your name). Name the project P1_your name.ai. Name each

module Mod1(A,B,etc).ai, Mod 2.ai etc. Submit the exams to the specified folder. Exams are

labeled 122Mid_(your name).ai, and 122Fin_(your name).ai


Submitting Projects

Drag your Project folder to DAR122 Drop folder on the Google Drive.  Within the Drop folder

there are a series of five project folders. Project 1, Project 2, Project 3 etc. Drag your folder

from your desktop to the appropriate project folder or exam folder when requested on or before the deadline.

Virtual Class

CRN12592 DAR122 is presented as a fully online class. We will not be meeting in person and you will be performing your work at home or in one of the computer labs on the West campus. We will have regularly scheduled Zoom classes on Tuesdays at 12:45-3:00PM beginning August 24 and ending December 14. You will receive an invitation on D2L. The link to the meetings will be posted here on the on the DAR122 Blog. The online lecture is 2 hours and 15 minutes. It is required to perform additional work independently between meeting times.

 

Classes are recorded so that you can review them at any time but you are required to attend the live online class unless you notify the instructor that you will not be attending.

Classes are recorded and posted for further review.  Please pay close attention to submission deadlines and specifications and check the blog frequently for updates.
